Ranchi, (Jharkhand), April 8: In an attempt to provide a sustainable model for energy supply in the far-flung tribal areas of Jharkhand state, Aarohan, a Delhi-based non-governmental organization has installed rooftop solar panels at two schools in Ranchi district. The schools are predominantly attended by students from local tribes.
The solar panels that were installed with the support of Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd., at ‘Rajkiyakrith Madhya Vidayala’ Navagarh and at ‘Rajkiyakrith Utkrith Madhya Vidayala’ Sirka, Block Angara, Ranchi (Jharkhand) are all set to provide a sustainable model for energy supply to the schools and the adjoining vicinity and is also aimed at providing sustainable energy solutions to rural communities, enhance educational opportunities for students, and encourage sustainable energy solutions to rural communities.
The installation of solar panels at the schools in Navagarh and Circa marks a significant milestone in our joint commitment to promoting renewable energy and supporting education in underserved areas. Harnessing solar energy will not only reduce the carbon footprint, but it will also provide a reliable source of electricity to support learning and development. Pallav Yadu, deputy manager of SECI LTD, played a vital role in the organisation. On this occasion, Aarohan conducted various activities, such as health camps and raising awareness on health issues that are very common in tribal areas, by including the parents/guardians of all the children at the school campuses of both the schools at Navagarh and Sirka and the distribution of stationery items. Harikrishna Chaudhary, the principal of Rajkiyakrit Madhya Vidhyalaya, Nawagarh, Ranchi, Jharkhand expressed his gratitude to Aarohan, Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) for their unconditional support in strengthening the academic standards by installing rooftop solar panels and providing infrastructure support to the schools. It will definitely boost the morale of the community, school-going children, and the school management of both schools, the NGO said in a press release issued here after the solar panel events in the schools, 40 kilometers away Ranchi, the state capital.
Rani Patel, Founder President Aarohan and Core Member National Human Right Commission, (NHRC) place on record her sincere thanks to Kaustav Roy General Manager (Projects) for their consistent support in the installation of rooftop solar panels, improving infrastructure support, organizing health camps and sports events, and the distribution of stationery to children is highly appreciating. She also stated that ensuring the availability of basic amenities in schools is crucial to enhancing the overall learning ability of children. This is in addition to improving the quality of teaching to achieve SDG 4; Goal of Quality Education.
The NITI Aayog SDG Report 2020-21 had placed Jharkhand under the aspirant category for SDG 4: Quality Education, with an index of less than 50. Access to reliable energy acts as an enabler of progress towards education. Evidence suggests that states with lower literacy rates also have low electricity rates in schools, and vice versa.
Aarohan, a new Delhi based service delivery organization founded in 2005 with a presence in Delhi, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan is reaching out to unreachable and invisible marginalized and vulnerable children, primitive vulnerable tribal group, youth, women, and third gender through its multiple programs.
